Because you can\u2019t be trusted to use your own good judgement, the <\/span>FTC has decided American bloggers<\/span><\/a> have to disclose whenever there could be hidden interests or unspoken biases related to recommendations in their blog. \u00a0S<\/span>ince this blog is not based in America, and I\u2019m not American, it doesn\u2019t apply to me, but because some of my readers my be <\/span>here\u2019s my disclosure policy:<\/span><\/p>\n

Ultimately I\u2019d love it if people paid me for advertising, sponsorship, paid insertions or other forms of compensation, but in that eventuality compensation will never influence the content, topics or posts made in this blog. If, in the unlikely event someone wants to pay me to write about something, I will let you know up front I\u2019m being paid.<\/span><\/p>\n

In any event, I\u2019m definitely not going to say stuff\u2019s awesome, if it\u2019s not. My opinion on products, services, websites and various other topics are, right or wrong, mine. If I claim or appear to be an expert on a certain topic or product or service area (that it\u2019s possible to be an expert in) I will only endorse products or services that I believe, based on my expertise, are worthy of such endorsement. If I make any product claim, statistic, quote or other representation about a product or service, you should verify it with the manufacturer or provider.<\/span><\/p>\n

So, any advertising, aside from promoting my own work (I can\u2019t expect my mum to do all the promoting) is in the form of advertisements generated by a third party ad network. Those advertisements will be identified as paid advertisements.<\/span><\/p>\n

Also, this blog does not contain any content which might present a conflict of interest.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lastly, for the reasons I’ve outlined above, not all sites will have one of these disclosure\u00a0pages. In those cases you’ll have to go back to using your own judgement.<\/p>\n
